Love that surpasses knowledge - the great physician

When I look back at 2014, I can not deny GOD showing up in the miraculous form of healing, surpassing my knowledge.  Three main instances come to mind. The first being, October 28, 2013.  Matthew, my boyfriend whom I've mentioned here before, went in to have surgery on his wrist.  While this may seem like a "routine" type of surgery, for him there was a lot on the line.  Matthew is an avid olympic weight lifter, and using his wrist is absolutely necessary to complete the movements.  At the time of the injury, he was well on his way to competing and coaching at the highest level of fitness.  During the surgery, the doctor came out into the waiting room, and let us know that the surgery he was going to originally perform, was not going to happen.  When Matt woke up, he woke up to several of his bones being removed.  To say that this was a set back would be a mild understatement. In true desperation, and after the Holy Spirits urging... I contacted another olympic lifter, Zach Krych, whom I had never met.  Matt had featured him on his blog the day he went into surgery.

Here is a little bit of Zach's beautiful response to my random facebook message

In 2014, I watched God heal Matt and his wrist in so many ways.  I also witnessed this.  The following picture still is so fresh, it brings tears to my eyes.  And "they" said he would never lift again.....

The second, amazing medical moment of God smacking me right upside the head,  was with my friend Shelby Anders.  I came to know Shelby through my sister. If you know Rach, and I this is a common occurrence.  We adopt each others people.  Thus was the case with Shelby.  When I met Shelby, he was waiting on a double lung transplant.  I remember being astounded at his zeal for life, his optimism, and the fact that I never heard him complain.  And then it happened.  On June 13, my sister called and said it "was time".  I jumped up and met her at the hospital.

Here is what Shelby had to say in that moment.  Another lesson in love surpassing knowledge.  I watched over the next weeks and months, Shelby not only meet, but exceed and shock the medical teams.  With every visit, text, and facetime, I found myself overwhelmed with JOY and conviction.  Shelby continues to amaze me.  I spoke with him yesterday, and he started back to work.  Can we please just all pause for a moment and realize that just 6 months ago another human beings lungs were transplanted into him?! My brain still has trouble comprehending that fact.  But then again... Jesus shines through, and makes all things clear. While writing this post, here is another "Shelby" moment... this was a couple of days after surgery.

Lastly, I saw GOD surpass my knowledge with HIS love,  in the healing of Dr. Kent Brantly from Ebola.  And unless you were living under a rock, with no internet, or TV access, I am assuming you did too.  I graduated from ACU in the same class as Kent.  When we entered college in 1999, the theme was "Change the World".  As I watched with the rest of the world, God brought that back to my memory. Here is Kent's address to the students at ACU from this years homecoming.

Did you hear HIS words? 1) LOVE me with all your heart, mind, and soul 2) LOVE your neighbor more than yourself

This year I want to be different.  I want to recall, and remember, and fall on my face in worship, for all the LORD has done and will continue to do.  What are the ways you experienced GOD's healing in the past year that surpassed your knowledge? How do you recall, and remember all HE has done for you? Lets celebrate all HE has done!
